Each "Surface Site" is defined as a location on the globe where we have accessed 'reliable' observations of radiation at the Earth's surface. A number of different groups work diligently taking these measurements, many under very demanding conditions. Each site is identified using a unique 3 letter designation listed in the table below. This 3 letter identifier is used as a naming convention for both both surface and satellite files.
